Epoxy Polyamide 2-pack Rust Inhibiting Primer is a high performance 2-pack surface tolerant primer for prepared ferrous metal. It's outstanding rust inhibiting action makes it ideal for manually prepared steel and iron, where blast cleaning is impractical. A solvent-based high performance 2-component epoxy/polyamide coating for priming ferrous metal surfaces, prior to the application of our excellent Torlife chemically resistant 2-pack epoxy finishes.
Preparation: The surface should be clean, dry and free from any surface contamination. Any loose or flaking material/rust should be removed and scraped back to a firm edge. Application: Apply by brush, or, airless spray for very large areas like storage tanks. Theoretical coverage: 5 square meters per litre. Practical coverage: 4 square meters per litre. Typical thickness: 200 microns wet, 96 microns dry film thickness.
Application and curing temperatures should be above 10°C. Product will only tolerate a dampness of surface - not standing or running water.
Drying Times: Touch dry in 2 hours, hard dry in 8 hours at 20°C. Finish/Colour: Available in Matt Grey colour only, and supplied as a base and activator in correct proportions (3:1) to make 4 litres. Pot Life: 8 hours @ 20°C. Cleaning: Clean equipment using Epoxy Thinners. Minimum overcoating time: 8 hours Maximum overcoating time: 14 days.
