High Build Micaceous Iron Oxide (MIO) is a high build coating for the protection of structural steelwork against corrosion. It can be used as either an intermediate, or finish coat. For use on cranes, transmission towers, bridges, lamp posts, railings etc. Its thick anti-corrosive film is extremely effective in prolonging the life of these types of structures.
Available in Natural finish only. Typical Coating Film Thickness: 45 to 100 microns (dry film) from 90 to 200 microns (wet film). Brush application will only achive 45-70 microns dry film thickness per coat. Volume Solids: 45%
Preparation: Surfaces should be properly prepared and primed, clean, dry and free of dust, dirt, grease, or anything else which will interfere with the adhesion of the coatings to be applied. Remove any loose or defective paint.
Application: Stir well before use, suitable for application by brush or airless spray (thin with White Spirit). Apply evenly and avoid over spreading. Touch dry: 2 hour*. Minimum Overcoat Time: 16 hours* Maximum Overcoat: 28 days. *at 20 deg.C. Theoretical coverage: 4-8 square meters per litre/per coat. Coverage will be reduced depending on the profile and porosity of the substrate. Brush application will only achive 45-70microns dry film thickness.
After use: Replace lid firmly, and store upright, secure during transit. Clean equipment immediately after use with White Spirits. Dispose of responsibly. Do not empty into drains or water courses.
