Swimming Pool Paint is a solvent-borne chlorinated rubber, matt finished coating for the decoration and protection of concrete swimming pools and paddling pools. It can be used to redecorate prepared chlorinated rubber swimming pool coatings, or prepared bare concrete surfaces. It offers good resistance to chemicals used in swimming pools.
Its vital that all surfaces to be coated must be fully dry before application (below 5.5 on the Protimeter screed scale). Apply using a brush or short pile roller. Either blast thoroughly to remove all surface laitance or thoroughly etch with our Acid etch solution.
Swimming Pool Paint can cause lifting of conventional alkyd-based paints so always apply a test patch first. It can be softened by the build up of body fats - following prolonged service, scrub and wash with detergents to remove all fats/contamination before repainting.
Prepared bare concrete: Surfaces should be dry to 5.5 on the Protimeter screed scale. Apply one coat of Swimming Pool Paint thinned by 10-15% with Quick Drying Thinners - TH19 to act as a sealer (see link on right hand side of page).
Previously painted chlorinated rubber swimming pool paint: Scrub and wash with detergents to remove all fats/contamination before repainting, rinse with clean water.
Theoretical coverage 10 square meters per litre. Practical coverage approximately 8 square meters per litre, this will vary depending on the porosity and profile of the substrate. Touch dry in approximately 1 hour, overcoatable in a minimum of 4 hours at 20°C, normal relative humidity and good drying conditions. Do not apply over flexible fillers. Not suitable for fish ponds.
Available in Blue NCS S1040 B50G in 5.00 Litres.
